Bruce Clark Named CIO And Senior Vice President, STS

MEMPHIS, Tenn (January 7, 1999) AutoZone, Inc. (NYSE symbol: AZO) announced that Bruce Clark, 52, will join the company as senior vice president, systems technology and support and chief information officer. Clark comes to AutoZone after 16 years at Brylane, Inc., where he started as vice president, MIS and CIO for Brylane's predecessor company, Lane Bryant. After holding several MIS positions, he rose to CIO and senior vice president, telemarketing.

Clark, who reports to Tim Vargo, president and COO, fills the position left by Steve Valentine who was named AutoZone's senior vice president, international.

Brylane is a consumer catalog business that had over $1.3 billion in sales during its most recent fiscal year.

AutoZone sells auto and light truck parts, chemicals and accessories through 2,177 AutoZone stores in 38 states and 446 stores acquired from Chief. Chief stores are being converted to AutoZone stores. AutoZone also sells heavy-duty truck parts through 43 TruckPro stores in 14 states, and automotive diagnostic and repair software through ALLDATA.
