Gene Auerbach Named AutoZone Senior Vice President, Store Development

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- AutoZone, Inc. (NYSE: AZO) announced Gene Auerbach, 54, has joined the company as senior vice president, store development. Auerbach comes to AutoZone from The Dairy Farm Company, an international operator of supermarkets, drugstores, convenience stores and restaurants based in Hong Kong. He served as director of their $2.5 billion Asian operations.

Auerbach reports to Tim Vargo, president and COO.

Prior to joining The Dairy Farm Company, Auerbach served as senior vice president, international at PriceCostco, the company formed through the merger of Costco and Price Club. He began his career with the U.S. Navy, where he spent 22 years.

AutoZone sells auto and light truck parts, chemicals and accessories through 2,700 AutoZone and Chief stores in 39 states. Chief stores are being converted to AutoZone stores. AutoZone also sells heavy-duty truck parts through 43 TruckPro stores in 14 states, and automotive diagnostic and repair software through ALLDATA.
